Victoria Clark Lands Leading Role as Kimberly Akimbo
Victoria Clark won the Tony Award for playing the role of a protective mother by the name Margaret Johnson in the play The Light in the Piazza. She also got a nomination for her role as Mother Superior in Sister Act.
Her other notable roles at Broadway include the shrill Alice Beane in Titanic, the fairy godmother Marie in Cinderella, sardonic secretary Smitty in the play How to Succeed in Business Without Trying, and more.
The Tony Award winner for playing The Light in the Piazza just secured a massive role in the world premiere musical “Kimberly Akimbo.” As aforementioned, music will be played by Tony Award winner Jeanine Tesori, while the playbook and lyrics will be by Pulitzer Prize-winner David Abaire.
Musical set to Atlantic’s Linda Gross Theater
The Kimberly Akimbo play will commence at Atlantic Theater Company’s Linda Gross Theater on November 5th, 2021, before the official opening on December 8th. Currently, enthusiasts can purchase tickets, which are available on sale until Sunday, December 26.
About The Musical
Kimberly Akimbo will be based on Linday’s play of a similar name about a teenager by the name Kim. She is suffering from an aging condition that makes her look like an elderly woman. She is striving to deal with family secrets, borderline personalities, and possible criminal charges. Regardless, she is dedicated to finding happiness.
The play was first performed at Manhattan Theater Club in 2003. The new project at Linda Gross Theater will be the global premiere of the play.
Musical Production Team is Set
Jessica Stone will be the director of the play, with assistance from Danny Mefford, who will handle choreography. Also in the team include costumer designer Sarah Laux, scenic designer David Zinn, sound designer Kai Harada, makeup designer Jared Janas, projection designer Lucy Mackinnon, lighting designer Lap Chi Chu, music contractor Antoine Silverman, music director Chris Fenwick, and orchestrations by John Clancy and Macy Schmidt.
The production is currently auditioning for the role of “Seth”, who is an 18-year-old (legally) BIPOC male. The Telsey office just announced that they are holding an online open cast audition.
About David Milberg
David Milberg is an experienced financial analyst and entrepreneur from New York City. Milberg is a proud father of three kids. Milberg graduated from Princeton University with a BA in History and graduated from Columbia University with an MBA. David Milberg currently serves as a Senior Vice President at Milberg Factors, Inc.
Over his tenure at Milberg Factors, David has also been involved in numerous not-for-profit activities. In light of David’s charitable work, he was honored in the year 2000 by the accountants and bankers division of Big Brothers Big Sisters of New York and by the Metropolitan Jewish Geriatric Foundation. David Milberg has also been active in the Lincoln Center Business Council.
David Milberg has invested in such major broadway productions as Mel Brook’s The Producers, The Weir, and the hit revival of Pippin directed by Diane Paulus and starring Tony Award Winner Patina Miller at the Leading Player. David sits on the Board of Trustees for The Prospect Theater Company and is a fervent supporter of the Lincoln Center Theater. David Milberg presently serves on the Board of Trustees of the Princeton Triangle Club, where he was Vice-Chairman.
David Milberg has a rich, varied background in musical theater and live stage performance.
